Tonight 5th March

Post  Laticpot on Tue 05 Mar 2013, 11:02

Hi All,

I am assuming we are meeting at the redhouse this evening, so if I can find it I should be there between 7 and half past

I will be bringing Pillars of the earth and Thunderstone advance (as I now have both expansions)

(as I haven't been there before, how big are the tables - will those games fit?)

Hope to see you there

Tim

Yep the Redhouse. There is an event there next week but this week is a go...
I'm looking after poorly SWMBO so I won't be there either!

There was about 10 people on two tables. Tim & James from the pub also played! One table played Game of Thrones followed i think by something else. The other played Pillars of the Earth - a big worker placement game, based on the Ken Follett classic. We played 5 of the intended 6 rounds of it. Its kind of reminiscent of Agricola and Puerto Rico to an extent. You start by purchasing cards that allow you to turn resources into cash or VPs. You then send your workers out to fetch resources, then have 'Master Builders' which grant you three other actions, including buying and selling resources and lots of other stuff. There's a lot of finely tuned decisions to make and plenty of built-in balancing mechanics so no-one runs away with it. Classic eurogame territory and with a decent theme too - well worth a play Smile
