Tues 9/7/13 @ The Scholar, London Rd.

Post  Lizzy on Mon 08 Jul 2013, 12:10

PLEASE NOTE THE CHANGE OF VENUE THIS WEEK - the scholar on London rd.

Back to the Redhouse next week!

Hi, we're back and ready for more boardgaming! Karl, if you're about tomorrow, do you want to try out Tzolk'in?

I also had the chance to figure out the rules of Eclipse, Libertalia and Archipelago while we were on holiday if someone wants a game of one of those sometime soon (while I can still remember...).

Tzolk'in sounds great, count me in. I'll be down about 7:30, as usual and I'll bring a couple of things with me - Race for the Galaxy and something else.

I'll be back to try it out again properly this time Smile I'll bring Resistance again, and my Pandemic set should be along as well (left it behind in the custody of a friend after I had to leave suddenly last time). I'd like to bring Flashpoint but I'm under strict orders from the boss that she has to be present for first play through and she can't make tomorrow.

Not that I'd recommend getting on the bad side of the other half but if you want to play Flash Point, then I have it...

That's a "spirit of the law" vs "letter of the law" distinction that could only lead me to the doghouse Smile

I'll be down... can bring Dominant species again. I know how much Kes enjoyed it (in the end!). Happy to play Spartacus though.

Bit of cock up on my part

Post  Jeff Redhouse on Mon 08 Jul 2013, 17:20

Hey all,

I've just received a text from a promoter and the short of it is we have a gig here tomorrow night which hadn't been put in the diary, really sorry for the mess up. If it helps we can move gaming to Thursday or we're actually having a Playstation FIFA tourney on saturday night if that day would work?

Sorry for the messing up - I'm only human (well mostly)!

Does anyone fancy a blast on that?

There's the University Arms, which is nearby. I play board games there every Thursday with work and they seem fine with it. There should be masses of space upstairs on a Tuesday night.

They do food and good ale too.

Just heard back from Kathie at the Scholar... nice lady... appears it is free for the evening... its located right at the start of London road just off the ring road... seems to be an Aldi at the back we could use for parking... will post more details...

Would everyone be happy with this for this week?

I see your food and good ale and raise you:

Hi,
What time would you like the room from? How would you like the tables set up? And finally, can I take a contact tel. No from you?
You can park in Aldi car park but from 8pm onwards you are ok to park outside the venue. The manager also says he will do you some free chip butties if there are more than 10 of you.

Thanks,
Kathie

free chip butties... I'm easily swayed. Wink

I will check the Uni arms availability... easier parking for me as I work at the Uni...

Which would other people prefer?

Called the Uni arms... they need to check their diary - he is getting back to me... should know within the hour. They have several function rooms and we could fit in one of the medium ones upstairs.

Then we just need a show of hands for each place...

I'm planning on making my second appearance tomorrow night. Happy to play anything.
In the future I'd like to play a game of eclipse at some point. I pick it up a while ago but haven't as yet talked anyone into playing due to the set up time and game length. I've had to make do with the ipad version. It is a lot of game but a great deal of fun.
