IB&C are everything that is wrong with Kickstarter - they won't get another penny from me.

I'll play your copy though! Smile

Oh no! What happened Paul?

If anyone else wants this, maybe a idea to go for international combined shipping option, $35 + $25 per additional copy...

Re: One Night : Resistance!

I'm with Paul on this - much as I really like both the Resistance and Flash Point game lines, I've been really unimpressed with how they've handled Kickstarter over the past year - some issues:

1) Slipping - every one they've done has slipped at least a couple of months (I realise its a fact of life that some projects slip, but every one of theirs for the past year has been at least a couple of months late

2) Major shipping cockups - again occasional occourance is a fact of life, but the last three (at least) releases one region or another has gone catastrophically wrong.

3) Their public face (Travis) tends to get very belligerent when dealing with issues like those above.

4) Selling of "Kickstarter" editions to Joe Public before sending them out to backers (I'm not referring to people that reserve copies for Essen or GenCon pickup, I mean just visitors to their stands).

But that's just me Smile

Oh and as for the game itself - I had a flip through the rules and I don't really see anything it particularly brings to the table over One Night Ultimate Werewolf - at least not enough to buy *another* similar game - but as with Paul, I'll happily give your copy a go Wink

I'll never buy another game off them again either. My copy of the Resistance was missing a role card. I contacted the seller in the first instance who offered a refund/exchange but he also suggested I contact IB&C first to see if they could sort me out. I figured why not, it's not the shops fault that it's missing so I contacted IB&C. I had a brief email exchange with someone, he/she didn't give a name, and was told it would be with me in 28 days. I asked for an update about a week later and got a very short response explaining to me how long 28 days was... Tosser. It's been over 28 days now and still no card. Contacted them again for an update and also the shop again to see if that refund/exchange offer still stands but not heard anything back from either yet.

Screw those guys.

I'd heard a few complaints about them on BGG too.

Haven't personally had too much trouble, but the only IB&C thing I backed on KS was the resistance expansion. I guess it took a while to arrive, and there was a problem with the print on the back of some cards, not (colour) matching the print on the back of other, supposedly identical, cards. Not a problem when you use opaque sleeves, but it does kind of force you to use them...

I'm in two minds about this myself to be honest. My first reaction, is 'oooh, something to do with resistance, MUST buy'. I really need to consider what I'd be getting though, and if it adds anything significant to ONUW or Resistance (or is it all just clever marketing, aimed at fans of existing games, and not going to offer much substance in terms of game mechanics etc). So, will mull it over a week or so...

Still haven't really played ONUW much, wouldn't mind some more on a Tuesday, and properly getting my head around that game (and it's expansion) before diving in to something new.

I'm starting to find with this hobby; no sooner have you gotten in to one game, when the next shiny new thing pops up on the horizon, to tempt the dollars from your wallet. Is that a common experience?

What do you mean?

So far this year I've backed:

Viceroy
Tiny Epic Galaxies
Heroes Wanted: The stuff of legend
Trickerion
Thunderbirds
Ninja Dice - Kage Masters
Brugle Brothers
and Salem

Backing an average of 2 a month is ok isn't it?... but then I suppose you could include game purchases

Imperial Assault - and all associated bits
Western Town
Cuba
Ingenious
Chrononauts
Mansions of Madness Forbidden Alchemy

and since Saturday Super Rhino for the boys!

I think I may have a problem! Should we set up Cardboard Anonymous - My name is Aneurin Kennerley and I haven't purchased and punched any cardboard for at least 6 hours.

Kickstarter problem? What Kickstarter problem? Ahem...

So far this year I've backed...

- Phoenix: Dawn Command
- Entropy
- Alien Frontiers big box
- Adorable Pandaring
- Between Two Cities
- Schrodinger's Cats
- Coup - Mobile Edition
- Exploding Kittens
- The Dice Tower season 11
- Tiny Epic Galaxies

OK, I definitely should not have just counted those up. Yikes.

I've managed to avoid backing any board games since the end of last year.

Unfortunately, I've also spent more on published games in the first three months of this year than in any other comparable period.

Is that for iOS Paul? Would be interested to see how that works out. Kickstarting iOS games, do they give you some kind of an unlock code, to unlock a freely downloadable version?

Maybe it's old-skool where mobile just means small and magnetic?

Yep, it's for iOS (there was an Android stretch goal too but I don't think it was reached). The way this one seems to work is that the app will be freemium, with a limited play available for free. Kickstarter backers get everything unlocked for a bit less than it will cost at retail (so we've already made our accounts and when the app is available we just sign in and get everything unlocked).

If a publisher doesn't go for the freemium model then it seems to be very difficult to offer the same app at different price points (or free) to different people. I supported a Paul & Storm kickstarter which included a "Sound Bard" app (music and effects to play during RPGs and board games). They had all sorts of problems in trying to make it available to backers for free whilst charging non-backers for it. I think that sort of thing is much easier on Android than iOS.

Yep, imagine much easier in Android! Wink

It's an interesting idea though, make a game free, and KS backers can unlock exclusive content by entering some id code, or even the email used to back the project (maybe better to just email them an unlock code). Don't imagine Apple would be overly keen though, as it essentially takes away their piece of the pie!

I'm 90% likely to cave, and back One Night Resistance. If anyone else want's to back it, let me know, I'll order it, are we can settle up when they arrive. Hmm, actually, 90% is a conservative estimate; if I find another backer for this, I'll 100% go for it (brings cost of shipping down per person by $5, yeah, I know, I'm a tight-wad).

There isn't much info out there about the role actions. Main difference appears to be that roll activities take place in clockwise order from the leader of the round (rather than in role order from an App).

Rules are here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/nwaix5jbpnl2gj8/One%20Night%20Resistance%20Draft%20Rules.pdf?dl=0

They're pretty short simple rules, but it doesn't really mention what the roles are.

I assume...

You get a loyalty card (spy or resistance) and a role card. At night, spies see each other; then everyone closes eyes, and starting with the leader, each person does his role then announces 'mission complete', which alerts the next person to do their role. When all roles are performed, there is discussion, and a vote. Person with most votes dies. If a spy, resistance win, else, spies win (unless each player gets a single vote and there are no spies, in which case, resistance all win).

Extra roles with the KS; to tempt you are...

Defector.
Rouge.
Blind Spy.

Not sure what the stretch goals are.
