Tuesday April 21st

Post  PaulC on Fri 17 Apr 2015, 08:48

What are we playing this time?

I think DaveB was itching to try out his Firefly expansions - I'm up for that.
Otherwise, I'd like to try another of my unplayed games,  Tragedy Looper. Imagine Hayao Miyazaki created a game inspired by Quantum Leap and Groundhog Day. What's not to love about that?

The original plan had Liz, Nick and Paul playing - Paul is booked, I'm not sure if the other two are back this week or not...

Certainly up for playing either of the games you've mentioned, along with Specter Ops, Imperial Assault and god alone knows what else...

I could certainly go for some One-Night Ultimate Werewolf later on in the evening if anyone fancies some of that?

I'd like to give tragedy looper a spin, i've been trying to decide if I want to pick it up. Are the rules as esoteric as they sound?

When I first bought it I read through the rules then put the rules back in the box and put the box on the top of the shelf. So, yes, esoteric would be an appropriate description for the rules (or I was having a bad day).
However, Rahdo has done a review using a scenario from BGG which made it look a lot less scary, so I think I'm ready to open the box again...

I have played (and won) tragedy looper.
It hurt my head a lot - we ended up playing Love Letter after due to having no brainpower left!
Most difficult is "no discussion" between detectives, meaning every move you make may well screw the investigation and reset the loop (finite time available).
In our scenario, I spent several turns sacrificing people to a known serial killer in an attempt to identify our priority character. She died. The loop reset.
I loved it. I think steveygee will love it too.

Anyone want to bring and/or play Agricola? I've never got around to playing it and feel like I'm missing out. I've heard Caverna is a good alternative, too.

I few people have said they want to try Summoner Wars so I'll bring that.

Hi Dave,

If you play Spector Ops, I'd love to give it a whirl. Also, more than happy to play more One Night Werewolf any time.

I know everyone is suggesting more 'intense' games but I would love a game, or two, of Terror in Meeple City (Rampage). Does anyone have a copy and fancy playing it?

ONUW would be good as well (trying to decide whether to back One Night Resistance).

I'm happy to bring my copy along. Not sure I'll have chance to play it, but you are more than welcome to.

Thank you both, I'm happy to play either, though if I play both I suppose I should play Agricola first to fairly judge it against Caverna. Let's see there are many others wanting to play either of them. Agricola or Caverna: sign up now!

Text me if you want me to bring Caverna... its stupidly heavy... so if I don't need to drag it down I wont bother... call me lazy Wink

I should, by tomorrow, be in a position to teach anyone the game - but if you have time to check out Rahdo's runthrough , please do.
