I'm not sure if I'm free on Sunday, my brother will still be up. I'll let you know if I can make it. I'm free next weekend if you want to play then? Possibly the weekend after as well...

I may be able to host next weekend or the one after, if PaulG can't.

Ah, I definitely can't do the next two weekends (we're away for our anniversary 20/21 and have friends staying 27/28) so will hand the reins over to t'other Paul for those Smile

Paul, I just saw this BGG list and it made me think of your very Star Wars centric playlist -- appropriate for Twilight Imperium, less so for Pillars of the Earth Razz

http://boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/168772/game-enhancing-music-playlists-board-game

A bunch of games there that we've mentioned in the thread. If we decide on a game before the day we should use of of his playlists, or come to with our own.

Oooh, this is a great idea!

Did you see the stand at the expo where they were demoing an app which would provide an atmospheric soundscape to different game types (you could turn on & off various elements of the background noise to create your own soundscape). I think it was more geared towards RPGs but it looked quite interesting. Oh, here it is:

Yeah I was gonna mention that. It was a bit unnecessarily good though. These playlists are probably fine

Yes, it also looked like something that someone would be fiddling with all the time (and I'm bad enough spotting it's my turn without that added distraction!)

Gary and I can join you for the day. Would it make sense for us to give Alex a lift?

Can I request Black Fleet? I want to know what the fuss is about.

It's good Liz. Like a cross between merchants n marauders with Jamaica. (I didn't just steal that from Dave. I said it when we played. Legit)

Excellent! And, yes, that would make sense if you don't mind (and if Alex can still make it).

I think there are actually going to be enough of us to have two simultaneous games going!

It looks like lots has happened while I have been hiding away!
I can still come, it would make sense to get a lift from Lizzy and Dave - I will message details.
Many thanks all round, I look forward to plentiful gaming!

Re: Come and play some expo purchases in Greenhill - Sunday 14th June

Post  paulyg on Mon 15 Jun 2015, 09:03

Good fun! Thanks to everyone for coming Smile

By my count I think between us we played:
- Black Fleet
- North Wind
- Progress: Evolution of Technology
- Zooloretto: The Dice Game
- Transylvania: Curses & Traitors
- Ghost Stories
- Lost Legacy
- Star Realms (2 vs 2 team-based)
- Dobble

What did I miss?

My main observation is that Ghost Stories is still as ridiculously hard as I remember (we failed at it twice with not even a sniff of an appearance of Wu Feng). Also, team-based Star Realms is really fun and quite different to the 'normal' game!

Thanks for hosting! Great times as always.

I can't think of anything else. I really enjoyed everything we played. Black Fleet was great fun, even though I did horrifically badly. I'd take your Jamaica and Merchants n Marauders though, Kes, and raise it with some Buccaneer and Machi Koro.

North Wind was equally great with its amazing player boards and neat push your luck mechanic. Can see me getting that myself!

Zooloretto worked really well as the dice game. Nice distillation of the game. Remind me to bring the full game next time and you and Kat can see how it compares.

Transylvania: Curses & Traitors was also really fun, though I still prefer Betrayal. It didn't feel like we had much control over what we were doing, there was never really many choices to make. Turning into a vampire is always cool though.
