Venue etiquette

Post  karl_b on Wed 17 Jun 2015, 08:18

All, a note regarding etiquette and courtesy at the venue.

The last couple of weeks seems to have started out well at the University Arms, we’ve had plenty of people coming down and I hope that’s reflected in increased takings for the pub; the serving of food, hot drinks and an excellent range of drinks definitely helps!

The University Arms give us use of the pub for free, the incentive for them being they get people through the door spending money. If we're seen to be bringing in our own snacks, food and drinks then this is taking money away from them so please don't bring your own!

This is a really good venue for us, it was hard work to find and arrange and we need to support it as much as possible. At our previous venue, the Red House, we were no longer covering the costs of them opening and this cannot happen again.

I/we appreciate that not everyone can afford to spend a lot of money every week but we ask that everybody support the University Arms as best they can, they have overheads to cover and we’re taking up a large space in a popular pub.

I’m sorry if the tone of this is a little sanctimonious but with University term starting again soon we may find our space up for grabs if we don’t justify our presence there, we're in no doubt that we will be told to move on if we don't.

Peace out
Karl

All, I've updated this following the move to the Uni Arms.

Thanks for your support!

I think they actually ran out of food yesterday, I'm not certain it was due to us but if we contributed, that's a great start for us. Keep up the good eating!

That's good news, unless you were hungry of course.

I wasn't at last Tiesday's meet, but I can vouch for the yummy-ness of the cajun chicken burger...

Hello gang. Your continued support of the Uni Arms is much appreciated. I know money can be tight in the new year but if you can stretch to a drink or two every week then you're helping the club justify it's presence at the pub. We're taking up a lot of space and need to keep contributing. Cheers!
