Civilization

Post  BeardyTom on Fri 17 Jul 2015, 14:21

So, as I mentioned in another thread, I'm looking to get some people together for a game of Civilization at some point. This is the 1980 classic behemoth which will take 6+ hours to play. All other civilization games are merely pale imitations.

I'm looking at a Sunday, either the 9th or 23rd of August, starting about 10ish. I've already got a couple of people saying they'd play, so if I can get another 3 or 4 players lined up then we're good to go.

Sam? Aneurin? Jamie? I think you guys expressed an interest.

Sunday mornings are a no go for me Tom. I'll be out somewhere in the peaks doing a long run. Even it I weren't, I don't think I'd be bothered. I'm a fan of Civilisation and Colonisation (my fave) computer games, it's just the sitting still for 6+ hours.

Sounds very interesting! Unfortunately I'm in Stoke for games on the 9th and in Edinburgh on the 23rd so can't do this time but if you play again...

Jamie - Colonization is/was one of my favourite games too!

Colonization (the classic, 1994 version) is my all time fave strategy game. It's dangerously addictive though. If I install it on my current machine (using dosbox) I usually last a matter of days before doing an uninstall, due to playing it too much ... it's a complete time sink.

Multi-player colonization, using cardboard, would be awesome. Could take a while to play though...

Ah, yes, I haven't installed it for many years. Slightly tempted but I should probably resist for the same reasons as above. If I remember correctly I got a version that came with a free t-shirt. Very exciting in those days! A cardboard version would be fantastic.
