OK, for those who haven't played before I think this is what you need to read.

Base game rules
Read all the way to p31. Optional rules we use are:
- Distant Suns (p33)
- Leaders (p34)
Don't worry too much about the strategy cards (pp36-38) as we use ones from the expansions

Shattered Empire Expansion
Read all the way to p8. Optional rules we use are:
- Variant Strategy Cards (p9)
- Variant Objectives (I think) (p9)
- Race-Specific Technologies (p9)
- Artifacts (p9)
- Shock Troops (p10)
- Space Mines (p10)
- The Wormhole Nexus (p10)
- Facilities (p11)
- Tactical Retreats (p11)
- New Distant Suns Domain Counters (p11)
- Custodians of Mecatol Rex (p11)
Check the errata on p13
The strategy cards on pp14-16 are the ones we play with except for Trade II (we use Trade III from the second expansion)

Shards of the Throne Expansion
Read up to p9. We play with these optional rules:
- Preliminary Objectives (p10)
- Race-Specific Technologies (p10)

Check the errata on p21-22

Looks like a pretty comprehensive list to me. Only thing I can spot missing are racial techs and Mercenaries but they are pretty much a given by Trade III. And for the Objectives - we use all cards provided by the 3 sets - Secret, Preliminary and Public 1-2. Normal game = 10 rounds or 10 VP - ending anytime after the 6th round (i.e. Imperium Rex is in play). Highest VP win.

Normally Bureaucracy. I believe the only one from second expansion is Trade III.

Excessive googling tells me that an FAQ update suggested limiting the use of the Winnu bioptic recycling to once per round, but that many people play without this FAQ update as it needlessly weakens them. Where do we stand?

Keep an eye on the weather all - a game of TI3 is good but not worth breaking your neck trying to get there in the snow.

Looking at the forecast snow is tonight and tomorrow morning - some on Thursday evening and then mostly clear over the weekend and next - so we should be ok.

Keep an eye on the forum here to check... or PM me your number so I can let people know of any last minute weather related changes.

Oh and has everyone picked their race yet?

Not been very well recently (man flu). I should be fine for Sunday though.

However, I'm still without car, is anyone coming from south east Sheffield? Failing that I could catch bus to town and get a lift to Paul's from town. Anyone coming through the city center?

Yes, except Diplomacy II and Assembly instead of 2 and 3 above. I think!

I.e. The set of cards from Shattered Empire except replacing Trade II with Trade III from Shards as we play with mercenaries.

My order of choice (normally)

7 - technology II (for a free tech - play late on when people are out if resources)
3 - Assembly (use to get the speaker token so you can get technology first next round - play very early so the secondary ability is useless to other players)
1 - leadership (get extra command counters - save some influence planets (to ensure max effect) and play late on to avoid people using the secondary ability).
4 - Production (play late on to limit effect of secondary - but no essential)
6 - warefare II (can be played at any time so earlier the better really as it makes a fleet better - no one uses the secondary so you are safe).
5 - Trade III (play late on to avoid people using trade goods that turn)
2 - Diplomacy II (use to annex a neutral planet - no real 'good' time to play)
8 - beaurocracy (becomes more important in the late game)
