AireCon 10-12 March
Coming up next month. It looks like it might be fun.
Colonial Andy, I think you went to this last year, didn't you? How was it?

I'm tempted to take the kids on the Saturday... a trial run before taking them to the Expo later in the year.

Anyone going down just for a day that wants to taxi me? I'll contribute for petrol.

I am thinking of going. Not sure if it will be just for the Saturday or both Sat and Sun.
If just Sat I will likely drive and you are welcome to get a lift.

I did indeed attend AireCon3 last October in Bradford. It is difficult for me to judge it fairly to be honest, because I was really struggling with my anxiety and mental health issues at the time. It definitely confirmed for me that I will never again go to a convention alone, unless I am attending for a specific purpose, e.g. to playtest or pitch a game.
The building it was held in was just about large enough, though strangely labyrinthine. But there is little point commenting on the location, as AireCon4 is in Harrogate instead of Bradford (that additional distance is the reason I am not attending this time; it was a enough of a nuisance just to get the 2 trains to Bradford). There were a few hundred people, with an admirably wide demographic base - lots of men, lots of women, lots of kids, families, etc. The atmosphere seemed friendly, happy, and relaxed.
They had a lot of events organized, which mostly seemed to go pretty smoothly. I believe they have even more planned for AC4. The organizers, who constantly mingled and participated in games, seemed dedicated and very "on the ball". All in all, if my head had been in a better place and I'd had at least one other person for company, so that not everyone there was a complete stranger, I think I could have quite enjoyed it. I would have liked to go to AC4, but Harrogate is just too far. I recommend the convention generally, from my experience of AC3, and I hope any SBGCers who attend enjoy themselves.
