New members' events? - Page 2 Empty New members

hi all, i would definitely interested in this. Bit apprehensive about coming on a Tuesday as the extent of my gaming is carcassonne and settlers. Had axis and allies for about a year but nobody is brave enough to attempt a game with me!

I feel a new members night would be perfect and a little less scary than walking into a room where virtually everybody is already friends with each other!

For these reasons it is probably worth doing but we should mention there are lots of people that don't even know each other let alone are friends. Plenty of people happy to play just carcasonne and settlers or help introduce you to new stuff.
There always new faces arriving and getting involved so you wouldn't be out of place at all. Hope to see you down there

Nothing to be ashamed of, or apprehensive about, there - Settlers was what hooked me back into into the habit and I still play both that and Carcassone regularly to this day - in fact their appeal has far outlasted many other games to me!

You'll find the range in tastes of games at the club is *very* broad, and it's generally fairly rare that you won't find someone that's up for a game of something lighter - even the most hardcore gamers enjoy something lighter from time to time as well.

Welcome to the club, I hope you enjoy it! Smile

All of this sounds great. I wonder if we could look at getting a bit more love from the red deer too - e.g. 1st and 3rd Sunday? Would one of you forum bods be interested in arranging a poll to judge interest?

I'd be interested in an extra Sunday session a month. I keep being busy on the relevant weekend and am less likely to make it on Tuesdays in the summer.

Also the Red Deer is probably a less intimidating setting for new people, and having the whole afternoon makes it a more laid back drop-in kind of atmosphere so might be good for intro sessions.
