Our next meeting us Tuesday 1st June, what are we playing?

We also need to ask members for their subs for the year, I'll start next week. You can also speak to Ian or Tom C. It will be £2 for the year and this is to cover the forums, the club library, Christmas party etc. Thanks everyone!

I do wonder if, given everyone paid last year and then everything was shut down for more than a year, if perhaps the subs should be left for the year. Don't get me wrong I have no problem paying, once I eventually make it back...

There is a seperate discussion that needs to be had about the forums though

Sadly I again can't make it Tuesday. Nor the one after that. But hoping against hope the one after that!!

Even though the club was shut the forums still need to be paid for, it's not fair to ask Aneurin to foot the bill.

He won't be. Last year when the renewal came up there was a fairly lengthy discussion over whether we should keep the forums open given how quiet they have been. We agreed to give it one more year. Since then they have atrophied completely (understandable given the circumstances of course). I honestly don't think it's worth keeping unless we have a solid plan to try to turn it around.

I agree the forum is rarely used by members, I would much prefer a more modern way to communicate, some kind of app or chat program that people can use from a browser as well. Has the forum had its day then do we think? I guess it's no good asking the question on the forum!

I suspect that there wont be something that suits everyone - rather boringly I'd say do a survey of those who attend over the next couple of weeks.

Bigger question is to consider what are the forums for. I would guess when set-up it was the most practical option, and still has many advantages - easy to maintain, accessible via a multitude of devices. But digital tech moves at a scary speed, so now do you want something to discuss games and similar things, or do you just want something for letting people post games to play and allow others to sign up, or even to have a virtual gaming presence, in case of future lockdowns (hopefully not) or to allow others further a field to join or stay in contact if they move away - something not uncommon for a City with two Universities
