iPad games
I went and got an ipad for my birthday. I know a bunch of people are ahead of me so what's everyone's best games? What usernames etc do I need to find you? I'm in the game centre as kes smith and usual use kestersmith in any game that requests it.
I've been playing a bit of ascension, bang, neuroshima, eclipse and rad warriors.

Re: iPad games
Obviously depends if you like the games in questions, but I think these all have pretty good iPad conversions:
- Ingenious
- Small World 2
- Carcassone
- Ticket to Ride
- Elder Sign
- Lords of Waterdeep
I'm stayshiny on Game Center, but I haven't really got into online play with any of these (yet) - mostly I've played them locally or against the AI when I have a bit of time (usually on trains/flights or when I'm ill!).

Re: iPad games
Ch1ma3ra is me.
Ticket to Ride
Carcassonne
Small World
Ticket to Ride
Lords of Waterdeep
Agricola
Those are all solid conversions. One I found to be a crushing disappointment was Catan which has no online MP at all. Fluxx was pretty crappy too for that matter...

Re: iPad games
Looks like it's online-only with no async capability.
Also looks like their registration servers are slightly buggered as I am continually failing to register an account

Re: iPad games
I did, but the couple of reviews I read weren't very complimentary - enough so to push that into the "when it's on sale" list

Re: iPad games
I doubt it will get cheaper... £2.99 at the moment... for a GW product... You only get access to 2 teams and the other 4 are IAP. I think that is the biggest gripe...
I can see why but to me it's the same about moaning about cheap Ryan air flights...
The PC version (which essentially this is a port of) came with 8 teams but when it came out cost £30. People seem to think that owning the PC version entitles them to play the IAP teams on iOS! When has cross-platform gaming ever been free really?
As I said above - the game play to me is exactly the same as the PC version. The AI is still pants. But then it has always been a game to play with others and it comes with online play. Not Async but then how could it be? With all the different skills players can get that interact on the enemies turn it would take forever to play 1 match...

Re: iPad games
Please tell me it has chat servers? Why cant games companies see how good Carcassonne is and emulate the communication structure!
Re: iPad games
I've no idea - I won't buy an iOS boardgame that doesn't support async play - that just does not fit my usage patterns at all.
Really annoying when you consider games like Ticket to Ride, and Catan (and Scotland Yard) are basically unplayable for me :/

Re: iPad games
So I've just spent an afternoon killing (and being killed by) Paul in Star Realms - anyone else got it?
Its freely downloadable and to play against the (cheating) AI, but online MP (Async \o/) requires a one-time purchase of £4 (and can then be used on any platform (Android, iOS, Windows, OSX))

Re: iPad games
Well Paul is the first to soundly beat me at Carcassonne. It was relatively close until the last 20 tiles or so, then the bonus points came out. Looks like I need to start learning a few tricks... :-o
Challenge is open ended if others want to play?
Also, thinking of grabbing the Lords of Waterdeep app next assuming I like playing the board game next week. Do you guys recommend?

Ste
have added you on GC. Also Waterdeep is an excellent game, although again it's one where the expansions make it shine. A lot of us have the app.
