Is this your way of coming out of the closet?

Yep. I'm a closet scarf-wearer.

'karl_b' is a cleverly crafted pseudonym to hide my real identity.
However, I'm no longer just a black circle. Not since the surgery.

I also feel the need to apologise to Ellis - He has been coming for months and I still can't remember his name...

What do people think of Kes's "improved" profile pic for me?

Re: Push for real names on the forum
Just bumping this. Given that we actually meet up and see each other it can be really helpful for people if we use our real (or close to real) names on the forum. No obligation, of course but it might make it easier to identify each other.
*Having your profile picture 'Kes'd' not necessary*

Speaking of profile pictures - I'm loving PaulyG's new one.
Is that a reward from a kickstarter you've backed or something? It's very nice!

Yeah, I backed Ghostel so will be one of the hotel guests that you have to scare. I thought it would be fun to submit a photo where I'm wearing tuxedo (for some reason) and I like how it's come outJohnH wrote:Speaking of profile pictures - I'm loving PaulyG's new one.

Re: Push for real names on the forum
Another bump for this thread... but also a cautionary tale...
In short it would appear that forumotion (the parent site behind this one) have an automatic spam detector and unfortunately it works off usernames across the whole site (and sister domains). So if someone somewhere with a username spams just a single forum site all users across forumotion with the same username are blocked. A simple change of username (i.e. "Fred" to "Fred_S") can fix access issues.
So if you have an unusual name - no need to panic... if you are called "dave" might be worth calling yourself "dave_surname" to avoid any future problems.

Re: Push for real names on the forum
it appears I fell victim to this, prompting a name change... strangely I could log in via the mobile site, but not desktop... the desktop site took me to a recaptcha which could never be completed successfully... very odd...
Anyhoo, a swift name change resolved the problem...

Re: Push for real names on the forum
For clarity, I've changed my forum name from Colonial Andy to Andy S. Sorry if this confuses anything. Eventually I'll get around to changing my profile pic as well.

Perhaps this necessitates I change my name to Chris?
