Netrunner Novices
As a few people seem interested in playing Android: Netrunner with fellow novices, I thought it might be good to have an extra meet-up especially for that.
If that sounds like something you'd be interested in, let me know, and we'll work something out.

I'm also away this weekend and I'm busy Mondays.
I'm not sure when I'll be free next week, if at all, so best organise without me really. I'll fit a game in when I can.

This would all be a lot easier if none of us had jobs, families or social lives!
Sam and Rik, you could still come round Monday evening, if you like. We can sort out another time for more people to meet up later.

I'm up for it. PMed my number.
How many copies of the game do we have? We really need equal numbers of players + half as many copies.

Re: Netrunner Novices
Had some great games against you guys the past few days. Been a pleasure winning and losing
One thing I was doing horribly wrong, not sure if Bob was doing the same or if it was my private mistake, is misinterpreting the "one asset or agenda in a remote server" rule, which I thought meant you could only have one asset or agenda in play, until I realised Pad Campaign is an asset and would be a pretty rubbish card if you could only install one and had to trash it when you want to install an agenda. Actually, you can have as many assets or agendas in play as you like, but only one per remote server, as opposed to upgrades which can all go in the same remote server.
How long did that last game take, Tom? I must have got there about 7:20, and we stopped around 9:30, but I think the first two games were shorter than the last one. Maybe 40 - 50 minutes?
I've played or played against all factions now and from what I can see (avoiding any online advice or tips):
Criminal is about gaining money for doing runs
Shaper is about powerful hardware and icebreakers
Anarch is about amassing virus tokens to strengthen runs or weaken ice
Haas-Bioroid is about trashing programs (also has high-strength ice that can be broken with clicks)
Jinteki is about doing damage
NBN is about laying tracers
Weyland Consortium is... um, amassing money, I think?
I can see some criminal cards working well in a shaper deck. There is one that lets you search for an icebreaker, and some that get you quick money. There is that nasty Jinteki meat-damage-if-traced card that would be effective in an NBN deck.
Undoubtedly this will be the next game I buy. I'm looking forward to us setting custom built decks against each other

Re: Netrunner Novices
Surely we can do both, Kes. As long as I don't start getting into Magic as well then I should be fine...
Sam, you're probably about right with the estimate. I think it was a rather more cagey game than most I've played so probably took a bit more time, but I was concentrating too much to notice, really.
I've now played with or against everything except Weyland. When I played as NBN I kept waiting for cards to come up that would allow me to actually do something with all the tags I had on the runner, so, if I were deckbuilding, I'd definitely start with finding some more of those.

Re: Netrunner Novices
I'd definitely be up for this, I'm not really a novice but I haven't played the game in around 6 months and am looking to get back into it.
Are you guys just playing with the core set? If so I can build a deck using just the core set cards.
Also if you have more people interested than you have decks I can bring a couple of extra's as I own 2 core sets.

Re: Netrunner Novices
Yeah, just core sets so far. Some people have some data sets but haven't used them. I don't think anyone here has attempted to build a deck yet either, but I suspect we'll be get around to both. Related news: FFG introduces card rotation for Netrunner
It would be fantastic if you could bring extra core sets. That's what we need for curious players who want to try it and learn it but don't own it. I think there are six or so that have expressed an interest but among us only two people own core sets.
Thoughts on when we could meet up again, people? If more people are free and we need space we could find a pub in town.

I have 2 of the small data packs and I'm now going to start to deck build a little. Not sure what goes with what just yet but looking forward to mixing things up. I know I will get the expansions though.
