Pixel Tactics Empty Pixel Tactics

Has anyone played Pixel Tactics? They've got a Kickstarter up at the moment for Pixel Tactics Deluxe, and I'm a little bit tempted (I really like the video game RPG combat systems that they draw on). But wondering if anyone has got any views before I blindly dive into yet another Kickstarter...?

Liz has it. I found it difficult to enjoy. The mechanic means if you have three cards in your hand, you have to consider 4-5 different options for each card and compare that to all the different cards in the opponents team and on your team. Basically you have to work out the best move out of essentially thousands of options and each optionsmeans reading a bunch of different stuff and working out how it fits together. You finally do something and realise you missed something really important and that move was wasted.
That's my review

That's good info, Kes, thanks! As I'd mostly be playing it with Kat I can imagine she'd get pretty frustrated with that. Still, I wouldn't mind playing it some time, Lizzy, if you fancy a game?

Kes didn't like it cos he lost. I, however, really liked it. It's a really neat concept and packs a lot of game into a few cards. Yes, there's a lot of reading and you have to understand the cards to know what you're doing, so there is a bit of an entry barrier, but once you know what each does it'd get a lot easier. Each player gets a set of 25 identical cards, so there's not that many cards to learn. It's not the kind of game you can play casually, it's true, and anyone who's played it before would annhiliate a newcomer; you'd need a specific person to learn the game with.

In short, yes I'd love to play it! I also have War of Indines if you want to try that.

Oooh, ok, sounds like I might enjoy it! So, yes, I'd like to play both of those... :-)

I don't believe that... Wink

Yeah I was looking at this but I've just KS Viceroy instead! Looks like a cool little filler with some great art...
