I haven't played before Alex, but would like to give it a go, unless it's a really long game?

The base game is super short and simple. Harbour adds s bunch of stuff but I'm sure its still pretty short

Whitechapel seats six so no problem there with numbers but X-com I think tops out at 4 I think?

Correct, so I think we're full.

Do I need to research xcom rules, or is it fairly straightforward?

Believe it or not the rules are baked into the companion app - there is no rulebook :/

Yeah, the no rulebook thing is a problem, I think. But it's pretty straightforward. I'll explain each of your roles to you before we start and we should be fine. Hey, we managed to save the world last week, right guys? (just don't mention Africa)

Africa? What is Africa? I have no idea what your constant references to Africa could possibly mean! I wish everyone would stop mentioning Africa. Nothing happened in/to Africa. NOTHING. enough about Africa already! *innocent face*

Post  Twinkle Tue 10 Feb 2015, 12:43

I'm coming with husband and (I think) a friend.

How many did you have for Whitechapel? I'm interested if it's still on (lost the thread a bit around the middle). Happy to play whatever though.

Yay boardgames!

Not sure how many have expressed an interest, but it plays 6.

One small note - the plan tonight is (or at least appears to be) Letters from Whitechapel and X-Com - while you're most welcome to join us for Whitchapel, I need to warn you that X-Com is fully booked (it only plays 4)...

It's not terrible, in fact I quite like it (high praise given I'm not usually a fan of worker placement stuff) - the Scoundrels expansion adds quite a bit to the game too.

I've heard the expansions good. I just find the get black cube, get orange cube, complete quest, score points cycle a bit dull. But you shouldn't let me ruin it for you Blinky, its fun enough the first couple of times, it just hasn't got the legs over the distance.

Whatever your opinion about its gameplay, I think we can all agree that Lords of Waterdeep has the best box insert of any game!
