You think the empire can afford to just throw out the armour with the dead storm trooper? This is a time of austerity,  the armour is redistributed to the next grunt.

No instead you take the armour away from any already wounded troopers - they don't need it - they're obvious useless and will be dead soon anyway. Then you give it to your best trooper who already has multiple layers of armour. He can hide this 'dirty/damaged' armour under the gold plated armour he has surrounding himself - or he can give it to his son so he has a spare for when he eventually becomes a trooper (without any official training).

Wait... is this facebook?

Spray on black base layer; then paint on darkest shade of the base colour, then black wash, then high-lights?

Is that correct?

Ooh, on the video he starts with white primer...

I think something a bit simpler for eclipse would work well, a black, white or gray primer, followed by a drybrush of the required base colour, finished off with a layer of dullcote.. I used this on my BSG raptors and heavy raiders..

We seem to have gone off topic slightly, sorry my fault!

Getting back on it, any more takers for Imperial Assault?

Are those metal miniatures Scott? They somehow look metallic. Smile

I think, it's probably low priority for me, to start paining my Eclipse miniatures. Need to focus on a good storage solution for the game first (make the game super-quick to setup and pack away). Hope to get more plays of it on a Tuesday evening too...

Nope, they are very small plastic mini's took and a bronze paint for the raptors, and a gun metal for the raiders. Chainmail on the normal cylons in the back.

As far as setup times for eclipse, there is an american company called daedalus, who make a very fancy insert / quick set up thing, worth a look for ideas if nothing else.. I've just picked myself up a copy of eclipse, so have been looking at the same.. http://www.daedalusproductionsinc.com/?product=quick-start-insert-of-eclipse

Hi Scott,

Ah yes, I came across that wooden insert previously.

Have been putting together my own foam-core solution, including, 6 player trays, like this one...

https://www.flickr.com/photos/cosmic4z/17738540931/

The photo (above) is upside down. The idea is, each player gets one, it goes on the player board, remove the 3 spare influence discs, the ambassadors, the colony ships and the resource markers; and you're good to go. The discs easily slide on to actions (that are all in the tray itself). The pop cubes all stay in the tray as you play (unless they go on the board of course). Just makes it super quick to pass a tray out to each player, then get them back at the end of the game. Ships are still in separate bags though.

I'll have separate trays too, for ship parts and all the other bits and bobs in the game.

I'm also planning on getting some of these at some point...

If you fancy some, let me know and can order them all in one go, to save on postage. Maybe Aneurin would be interested too, for TI3?

I have Memoir 44, I love it but many genre purists don't enjoy that there is a large element of luck involved. Happy to bring it down...

3 pages of painting your pieces... just a little off topic Razz

I'll be bringing Elfenland if anyone is interested in playing. Would be best to play with 4 or more players :3
Or maybe one of Aneurin's games if we have a few players already?

Also does anyone have any grip seal bags I could buy/use etc?

Post  SamVS Mon 18 May 2015, 21:50

Now I know what everyone is painting, what are people playing?

I'm kinda interested in Imperial Assault, Ste, though I won't commit till I've read/watched more about it. Still, I like tactical combat a lot and I like character building a lot and I haven't played a tabletop game with a campaign of this sort, where you take the same characters from session to session, but I feel like I might like that a lot too, so I'm definitely interested. And Star Wars is kind of a cool theme, I guess.

Does anyone have any thoughts about how it compares to the combat aspect of RPGs, like DnD, or to other RPG inspired tactical games, like Descent or Mice and Mystics.

...man, Mice And Mystics, that's what I want to play. Just look at that box art. Anyone want to play Mice And Mystics? Anyone got it?

Or Space Hulk? I'm not saying there was a rational connection between those games, I just want to play Space Hulk.

I'm also up for Memoir '44, Rik. I'll bring Summoner Wars if you want another go ie. recover your pride after getting whooped last time Razz

Sam, I've not played Descent but I've read that it pretty much uses the same combat system but with a tweak that lets you cancel surges on your defence rolls. Other than that I can't really compares to anything as I've never played a game like this before. (I'm not counting Warhammer)

In any case you're welcome to join me and Scott.

Sam - I have Space Hulk if you fancy a game sometime. It's pretty big now so perhaps best left as an extra curricular game? Best nights for me are Wednesday/Friday/Saturday/Sunday. Imperial Assault is great - play it...

Re: tonight - I'm still bringing Princes of Florence, Shadows over Camelot and probably Lewis and Clark as I haven't managed to cover the Western Town/Cuba rules yet.

Evan has got us 2 of the smaller 3*3 boards. He cant make it tonight but I saw him yesterday and they are now in my car so will bring them along.

Cowboy Avalon - I've found 3 hats... anyone got 2 more?

Hi Matt,

I think it may be an option! I don't actually own the game myself, just noticed someone else on the thread mention they have it, and it could be a goer next week. Let's see! I may have to play Eclipse next week though. So many games. So little time! Smile
