I'm happy to play, I just don't want to own it any more.Kes wrote:If we get another couple people interested, we could do a three team game to include all the factions, could be fun.

That would be good Paul, we'd need a third person who knows how to play for a third faction. So there's space for one more newbie...

June 2nd looks good for double/triple X-Wing and if there's time we could fit in some Armada.
When do you need to know about Thursday by Liz?

OK, cool. Shall we play some Armada? If we're playing X-wing on the Tuesday.

Yeah I thought that was the idea! I bring Armada for you to try with me and you introduce me to the guys at the outpost at the same time.

Re: Star Wars - Armada
So I got a game of this at the Outpost last night. As Liz couldn't make it I posted on the Outpost's find a game Facebook page and a guy called Rob said he'd give me a game.
A quick battle report, we played 2 games which took about 2 hours overall which wasn't bad. The first scenario was a simple kill as much as you can type game with one ship on each side being worth double points. I played the Imperials (of course) and I fielded a Victory I Star Destroyer and a Victory II Star Destroyer along with 5 TIE Squadrons and Howlrunner. He was the Rebels and along with a CR90 Corvette borrowed from me he also used a second CR90, a Nebulon B Frigate, 3 X-Wing Squadrons and Luke Skywalker. He had initiative so went first but not much happened in the first round as we were both out of range. On my first turn in the second round he'd just put a CR90 into range of my Victory I which is geared up for short range damage and I left it with 1 Hull point after my first shot. The second shot finished it off. It was pretty much downhill from there with my Victory II taking out his Nebulon B by the end of round 4. This was his flagship which was worth double points so he called it at that point and gave me the win.
In the second game we played with the same set up but on a different scenario. The only way to score on this one was to flank and cause damage to the rear hull zone of a ship. His ships did much better in this game as they are so maneuverable, however after the first pass his ships all over shot mine as they were going too fast and we called it at round 5 of 6 as nobody would be able to get back into range in time. Neither of us scored any victory points but I destroyed all of his fighters so while it was technically a draw, I'm counting it as another win for me
Overall I really enjoyed playing, it was good fun. I ended up buying a Fighter pack for the Imperials to use next time, hopefully they'll give me a few more options for my fleet. I'm looking forward to playing again and trying them out.

question for you armada players - I'm interested in giving this a play but am concerned that on a regular night it might take too long with rule explanations etc with a totally new player - what do you reckon?

I think I'm currently the only Armada player on here. It's not too bad to teach, the mechanics are actually quite simple. There are some subtleties within rules that will require looking up occasionally, for example special abilities/upgrades and what not, but considering it was my first game last night there was very little downtime. I had read through the rule book twice before hand though and the guy I was playing with had played before. Speaking of rule books, you can download pdf versions of the rules from Fantasy Flight's website so if you're worried about it go get hold of them and have a read through.

Luvverly, thanks Ste. I'll have a read and keep an eye out for you bringing it down to a club night
