WTF? How did Eclipse jump to number 8 on BGG?!? I only heard about it about a month ago and now it looks like its going to be the top game.

Well the promise is all the fun of Twilight Imperium but we can play it on a Tuesday night. Lots of hype around. Mind you it persuaded me :-)

It does need a bit of room to play, though as the boad is ever expanding. But agreed, it looks like a worthy addition.

Steve has pre-ordered Eclipse. I'm still to be convinced it's a pub friendly game. TI3 was said to play in 3 hours. I think they got the setup time mixed up with the play time there.

I see it isn't winning anymore so this is a mute point but regarding Eclipse, I foudn this review concerning the playing time:
Game length. Our first game with five players was five hours (plus an hour of rules). Some people just won't have the patience for this. That is about the limit of my group (see Dune), which is why I've never bothered with Twilight Imperium. It does get quicker with experienced players.
As I suspected... although it says it can be played in 3 hours this game looks like a shed evening do to me.

Is that "arghhh" a pirate'y voice or annoyance that it's not eclipse? If you already have M&M Mark it might be worth getting something else?

Well, wonders will never cease. Just popped into Emporum to order the game and John had already got it. I'd mentioned it to him last week as a possible purchase. So we now have a club copy. Will bring it down to the next meeting after having read through the rules and get some idea of how to play.

Right, everyone must come to the next session wearing eye patches and huge hats. And nothing but Rum to drink all night. And all beards need to be set on fire. Should be a blast !
