Tuesday 26th January Empty Tuesday 26th January

Post  DaveB Mon 18 Jan 2016, 08:30

Starting this one a little early but I won't be around much over the next few days...

Does anyone fancy trying out Legendary Encounters: Predator with me (Its a co-operative deck-building game that is one-half very similar to the previous Alien version of the game)? The game plays five

I'll bring another new game this week if anyone fancies it. It's Sunrise City, a city building game where you build up tiles in three dimensions.

Yes, but I don't think I'm going to make it next week. But if you bring it again in the future then I'd like to give it a try!

If there's interest, I'll bring next week (26th). I'll also bring it when you're here next and want to try it, I think you might like it. Smile

I'm up for some Archipelago if you get enough people to play.

I've also got Spheres of Influence to try if Archipelago doesn't come off if anyone's interested.

I'm planning to attend on the 26th, but still feeling pretty ropey, so I don't think I'd be up to running a game of The Path to Panic (what with having to mentally take notes for any subsequent revisions).

I'd like to volunteer to play this Predator game, but,
1. I've never played any of the Legendary games (or any deckbuilding game, really). I wouldn't want to hinder others' enjoyment with having to learn how to play, constantly asking questions, and taking longer on my turns.
2. I've only ever seen Predator 2 once and don't really remember it.
If either of these could be expected to be detrimental to the experience (please be honest if that's the case), I'll pass - otherwise, sign me up, please.

Thanks for all the get wells by the way. I hope to bring The Path to Panic on February 2nd.

Hi Andy,

I don't think lack of experience will be a particular hindrance to the game, it's mechanically quite simple and won't take me too long to go through the rules, and as a cooperative game we'll be playing openly and together anyway.

Equally I don't think lack of experience of the film will be a big deal either - I was planning to play the first movie (the Arnie one) which you don't mention, so I'm choosing to infer you have at least a passing familiarity with it. Either way it's not really important to the game, it will just allow you to get the full *flavour* of things I think...

So unless you object - I'm adding you to the list Smile

Neither will be detrimental. Or rather, no more detrimental than our usual ineptitude when playing this type of game.

This is also true - my general experience has been that the first game was equal-opportunities and will just as happily kick the ass of a newcomer as a seasoned loser of this game Smile

Actually Dale, just looking on BGG and Spheres of Influence looks very interesting. Maybe we should play that instead? We could always save Archipelago for the second meet in February (am not going to be here for the first meet in Feb), and we could have Paul G join us for it too. Just a suggestion. What do you think? Either way, Spheres of Influence looks great, and I definitely want to play it!

Thanks, Dave and Paul for reassuring me. Smile
Yes, I know the first film well, but I might have to watch it for the multipleth time this weekend just to get my head in the right space.
Just please can no one challenge me to a mid-air arm wrestle the moment I turn up on Tuesday.

Not that I need an excuse to watch Predator, but that's an excellent idea Smile

I think I'm down to start a new Imperial assault campaign with. New member to the club. He did mention bringing a friend but there could be some spots if anyone feels like being a rebel sympathiser. Scum.
